About the UCI hSCRO Committee

The UCI Human Stem Cell Research Oversight (hSCRO) Committee assures that human stem cell activities are in accordance with California state regulations and UCI policies and procedures

California Legislature mandated the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) in Health and Safety Code Section 125118 to develop a comprehensive set of guidelines, which would fully address the ethical, legal, and social aspects of stem cell research as well as ensure the systematic monitoring and reporting of human stem cell research activity in California that is not fully funded by Proposition 71 money granted through the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) (Senate Bill 322, Chapter 506, Statutes of 2003; Senate Bill 1260, Chapter 483, Statutes of 2006).

Accordingly, the UCI hSCRO follows CDPH regulations, and CIRM regulations, as applicable.

Kuali Research Protocols (KRP)

UCI's IRB, sIRB and hSCRO submission and management system.

Stay InformedLimited Submissions + Data Migration

ZOT hSCRO will launch on September 15, 2025. Beginning August 4, 2025 the UCI hSCRO will allow limited submissions only.

This will allow additional time for HRP to clear their review queue, train on the new system and, importantly, complete the data migration process.

In order to transition to Huron IRB, the HRP must migrate current data in Kuali Research Protocols (KRP).

Please note that unsubmitted drafts and submitted items in KRP that remain unapproved by the IRB by August 4, 2025 will NOT transfer to ZOT hSCRO – they will be discarded.

Please work closely with the HRP to process out all transactions prior to the transfer. For more information including what submissions will be allowed in KRP from August 4 – September 14 (and how to submit), CLICK BELOW.

By Request Only!
