Overview
The Office of Research Development in the Office of Research (ORD) is a central resource available to all UCI units and devoted to helping UCI researchers find funding for their projects. ORD helps researchers write and edit their grant proposals, produces the Fundopp funding opportunities listserv, performs customized funding searches, advises graduate students in proposal preparation, and conducts tutorials in using the funding databases. In addition, we produce The GrAnteater, ORD's quarterly newsletter. Finally, ORD participates with other Research Development offices in helping UCI faculty develop collaborative relationships and interdisciplinary initiatives such as center proposals.
As a central resource for campus and the Medical Center, ORD makes available a series of tools for finding funding and writing grant proposals:
- ORD subscribes to and hosts two commercial funding databases (IRIS and SPIN),
- Prepares and sends approximately 1,000 notices of funding opportunities per year via the Fundopp listserv
- Offers proposal writing and editing services.
- Consults with graduate students preparing fellowship applications
