Administrative Pre-Review of Animal Protocols and Modification Requests
IACUC staff members are available to review new protocol applications for completeness and adherence to regulatory requirements before they are submitted for full committee review. This service is offered to all UCI researchers and can help facilitate the protocol approval process by providing:
- Pre-review feedback and suggestions to the Lead Researcher
- An opportunity to correct minor protocol issues before the review process begins
- A chance to prevent or shorten delays in approval by addressing major concerns before full committee review
IACUC staff members can also review modification requests and make recommendations regarding appropriate level of review [administrative, designated (subcommittee), or full committee review].
Pre-Review Process:
- UCI researcher submits a draft of the protocol via email attachment to the IACUC Administrator at least two weeks prior to the published submission deadline
- IACUC Administrator returns comments to the UCI researcher via email.
- UCI researcher makes recommended revisions to protocol and submits the final version to the IACUC by the published deadline.
