Definition of "Relatedness"
A related interest occurs when an investigator (and family) has significant financial interests that would reasonably appear to be affected by the proposed research or in entities whose financial interests would reasonably appear to be affected by the research. UC has interpreted "relatedness" in a broad sense. Thus, consulting in one's field of expertise will automatically mandate disclosure under the relatedness requirement.
