Letters of Support
Letters of support are often required by granting agencies, and always strengthen applications. The Research Development office can draft and prepare letters, assist with cost-sharing negotiations, obtain the necessary signatures, and deliver completed letters in hardcopy, electronic form, or both, depending on your needs.
Communication with UCI Office of Research Administration
In collaboration with departmental staff, the RDO can oversee the process of signature collection and review by UCI ORA necessary for all extramural funding applications. This includes contacting the appropriate grants officer, coordinating grant and budget review by the relevant department and Dean's offices, and implementing all required changes.
Communication with Program Managers
The RDO frequently communicates with Federal and private grant Program Managers, in order to determine agency funding priorities, and discuss issues relating to grants under development and in progress on behalf of UCI faculty. Consultation with relevant Program Managers is always recommended prior to submission, and greatly improves chances for crafting a responsive proposal.
Grant Writing Seminars and Training
The RDO occasionally sponsors grant writing training and seminars, both on and off campus. Recently, we sponsored 12 people to attend the NIH Regional Seminar in Riverside, CA. Future sponsored Seminars will be announced on the News page. A competitive application process generally occurs.
