Creating a New Animal Use Protocol (AUP)

Signing

To finalize the Animal Use Protocol (AUP), the PI is required to sign off on the protocol. In addition, a signature is required from the Department Chair, Center's Director or other individuals responsible for reviewing and signing off on behalf of the Administrative Unit submitting the protocol.

  • PI signature required after submission of the application, must be before the IACUC Committee approval
  • Dept. Chair signature required after the AUP approval

PI Signature

1. After submitting the AUP application, a couple days later, the PI will receive an automated email from IACUC with a link to their protocol, stating that the AUP needs to be signed. Click on the link to access the protocol.


2. Log-in to the online Research Management System (RMS): http://rms.research.uci.edu and enter your UCInetID and password.


3. Once you have logged-in, you will jump directly to your protocol.

4. Click the Signatures button


5. A pop-up window will appear with the IACUC rules and guidelines.

6. Confirm the following and electronically sign the AUP by entering your UCInetID password in the Password box and click the  button.


7. After signing the AUP, your name will move from the "Required Signatures" section to the "Signatures" section with a timestamp. Click the  button at the top to close the pop-up window.


8. The protocol is automatically submitted to the IACUC office for review and you have fully completed the submission.


Department Chair

1. An automated notification will be sent to your UCI email account informing you that your signature is required for an AUP.


2. Log-in to the online Research Management System (RMS): http://rms.research.uci.edu and enter your UCInetID and password.

4. Click the Signatures button.
