Electronic Research Administration

ERA Mission Statement

Electronic Research Administration (ERA) continuously supports the research goals of the Chancellor’s strategic plan by improving electronic systems that facilitate research administration and support the creative and scholarly activities of UCI’s faculty. Our goal is to provide excellence in the development and implementation of electronic systems that streamline the lifecycle of an award and reduce and simplify administrative procedures so that more time is spent doing research and less time is spent on administrative tasks.

Electronic Systems Currently in Use or in Development:

Kuali Coeus is an electronic system that supports the management of research projects. The following modules can be accessed with single sign-on using Zot!portal:
  • Proposal Development Module for developing and routing proposals for new, renewal or supplemental extramural funding.
  • Kuali Coeus (KC) Negotiations Module for tracking activities related to set-up of awards, subawards, and related agreements.
  • Kuali Coeus Conflict of Interest (KC COI) is the new electronic system that UCI Public Health Service and National Science Foundation Investigators will use to complete their financial disclosures, replacing the paper forms 800 and 900.

Cayuse 424 is a system-to-system submission tool for proposals to federal government sponsors, using

Research Management System (RMS) is a web-based electronic system, which covers all aspects of UCI's Animal Care and Use Program including:
  • Compliance - IACUC oversight of animal-use protocols (AUPs)
  • Operations - Animal ordering, delivery/identification and billing

Coming Soon:

  • Kuali Research (KR) Award will streamline the grant submission/funding process through an unified action list from proposal all the way to KFS account assignment
  • Cayuse 424 Phase II will add data synchronization between KC and Cayuse 424, reducing double data entry.
  • RMS Phase 3 will add animal welfare and electronic health reports
  • Data Warehouse will be a repository for all the data collected by the various systems.  This provides the eRA unit with a mechanism for reporting and data analysis.
